I Think, I Feel, I Am Cards in Africa!

This photo was sent to me by Dorothy Ashman, an EMDR HAP therapist.  She brought the cards to the one-day Specialty Training For Children by Dr. Frances Klaff in October in Ethiopia.  Dorothy brought the cards and, with my permission, copied them and added the Amharic translation. Right now there are I Think, I Feel, I Am cards on every continent except South America.
Come on South America!!

Multi-Disciplinary Team Meeting: The Effects of Trauma on Childrens’ Brains

Thank you to the Kids Center in Bend, OR for having me participate in the workshop on the effects of traumatic events on childrens’ brains. I definitely feel honored to have been asked to share the cards and identify how therapists are using them. I welcome your thoughts!

Flexibility, versatility, and fun!

The I Think, I Feel, I Am cards were designed to be open-ended in order to encourage creativity between therapists, teachers, and families. Cognitive Behavioral therapists are using them to help clients recognize critical thoughts and feelings as well as black and white thinking. EMDR therapists report success with clients as they work in the Assessment Phase and during resourcing. I find kids and teens like to see that thoughts they were having are not isolated – others have them too and often the pictures speak louder than the cognitions themselves.
